Long Time No See!!

In the words of Junie B. Jones "Wowie wow wow!" It has been such a long time! Where in the world did the month of November go? I can't believe that Thanksgiving is in ONE WEEK! I feel like I have slept the month away, at least since Daylight Savings! I still have not adjusted and my body tells me that it's bedtime when it gets dark! We are however, still alive in Room 108! Check out a little of what we've been doing!!!

A former student of mine decided to name her stuffed elephant after me. I was flattered! Had to get a picture of my namesake! ;)
"It's yo birthday, it's yo birthday!!" Same day! Happy Birthday Kaden and Hadden!!!!
 Domino Math!

I donated a book to our classroom from the Book Fair!!
We LOVE Splat!!! Thanks Autumn!!!

Here's another cool rhyming book for the classroom!!

Quote of the week!
2 students got to eat lunch with me on Monday for "Caught Being Good" drawings!
Student A: I love playing with Lalaloopsy dolls!! They are so cute!
Ms. Searles: Oh really? I was crazy about Barbies as a little girl!
Student B: *WAS focused on eating, but ears perked up at my comment* YOU'VE GOT ME TALKIN'!!!!!

:) Not a day goes by without these 1st graders wowing me, making me laugh, and giving me that sense of PRIDE! I am one lucky teacher!<3

Bears, Field Trip, and Halloween Festivities!

I greatly apologize for getting behind on the blog! We have had a very busy couple of weeks of learning and wrapping up the first quarter! Wow! Can you believe it?! I must thank each of you for attending your conferences! It's always fun to interact with the parents of the kids that I spend so much time with! Now, please enjoy the long show! =)

Happy Birthday, Dear Jorja!!

Busy With Bears! & a few other things!

What a busy couple of weeks it has been in Room 108! We have been learning about living and nonliving things, plants, pumpkins, BEARS, and we even completed Unit 2 in Everyday Math! Hats On Day was Thursday and as a school we raised $400!! WOW! Parent involvement in Seaman is by far one of my favorite things about the district! Thank you for CARING! :) Please enjoy the next million pictures I'm about to post!

Students were told to put their bears in the corner, on the floor, on day one. I walked away to let them do their job, and looked minutes later to find this cute little scene. Apparently if MY bear got to be in my chair, so did theirs! Too cute.
Brrr!!! It's cold in here while my friends are at Music/PE!
My new students are pretty quiet!!
New friendships have been made! Hehe! :)
My students have SHRUNK!
Learning doubles by playing BOO CREW DOUBLES!

Learning how to compare and contrast with Venn Diagrams. What do our bears have in common? What is different?

Rub a dub, dub, bears in a short vowel TUB!
 Octo'bear' Place Value
 TALLY TOADS!
 Odd and Even Apple Trees
 ABC order
 Sentences that make sense!

Quote of the Week:
Student: "Ms. Searles, I need your address so that I can come trick-or-treating at your house."
Me: "Oh, I don't hand out candy usually. I'm busy being a kid myself that night."
Student: "Well, that's a rip off!!!" :o)
