Bears, Field Trip, and Halloween Festivities!

I greatly apologize for getting behind on the blog! We have had a very busy couple of weeks of learning and wrapping up the first quarter! Wow! Can you believe it?! I must thank each of you for attending your conferences! It's always fun to interact with the parents of the kids that I spend so much time with! Now, please enjoy the long show! =)

Happy Birthday, Dear Jorja!!

Busy With Bears! & a few other things!

What a busy couple of weeks it has been in Room 108! We have been learning about living and nonliving things, plants, pumpkins, BEARS, and we even completed Unit 2 in Everyday Math! Hats On Day was Thursday and as a school we raised $400!! WOW! Parent involvement in Seaman is by far one of my favorite things about the district! Thank you for CARING! :) Please enjoy the next million pictures I'm about to post!

Students were told to put their bears in the corner, on the floor, on day one. I walked away to let them do their job, and looked minutes later to find this cute little scene. Apparently if MY bear got to be in my chair, so did theirs! Too cute.
Brrr!!! It's cold in here while my friends are at Music/PE!
My new students are pretty quiet!!
New friendships have been made! Hehe! :)
My students have SHRUNK!
Learning doubles by playing BOO CREW DOUBLES!

Learning how to compare and contrast with Venn Diagrams. What do our bears have in common? What is different?

Rub a dub, dub, bears in a short vowel TUB!
 Octo'bear' Place Value
 TALLY TOADS!
 Odd and Even Apple Trees
 ABC order
 Sentences that make sense!

Quote of the Week:
Student: "Ms. Searles, I need your address so that I can come trick-or-treating at your house."
Me: "Oh, I don't hand out candy usually. I'm busy being a kid myself that night."
Student: "Well, that's a rip off!!!" :o)

Have no fear, October is HERE!

"It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin purple people eater!"

Wow! Where has the time gone? I guess the saying is true, "Time flies when you're havin' FUN!" Your kids never cease to amaze me! They are truly becoming readers, mathematicians, scientists, and writers. You have all been doing your part as well by checking emails, working with them on specific items, and making sure homework is completed each night! THANK YOU!! Now please enjoy some pictures of our little sweeties!!

Concentration!!!!!

Counting... and learning patience!

The GREEN team was all in GREEN today! Coincidence!?

Hello BLUE team!

Something was WAY funny!!!
The RED team!

The COLORFUL team!!! Small, but mighty!
Today's quote:

Ms. Searles-reviewing the senses. "We have mentioned that we have 5 senses, now lets name them, and what body part we use for each one."

Student: "A nickel!"

Hehe! Can you tell we've been doing lots of NICKEL learning in class this week? Good lesson on homophones! =)
