Have no fear, October is HERE!

"It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin purple people eater!"

Wow! Where has the time gone? I guess the saying is true, "Time flies when you're havin' FUN!" Your kids never cease to amaze me! They are truly becoming readers, mathematicians, scientists, and writers. You have all been doing your part as well by checking emails, working with them on specific items, and making sure homework is completed each night! THANK YOU!! Now please enjoy some pictures of our little sweeties!!

Concentration!!!!!

Counting... and learning patience!

The GREEN team was all in GREEN today! Coincidence!?

Hello BLUE team!

Something was WAY funny!!!
The RED team!

The COLORFUL team!!! Small, but mighty!
Today's quote:

Ms. Searles-reviewing the senses. "We have mentioned that we have 5 senses, now lets name them, and what body part we use for each one."

Student: "A nickel!"

Hehe! Can you tell we've been doing lots of NICKEL learning in class this week? Good lesson on homophones! =)

Find the PUPPY!!

On Friday I introduced a new SIGHT WORD game to the kids, and I must say, it was a hit! It's called Find the Puppy. It only consists of paper plates, sight words, and a cute little picture of a puppy. Hide the puppy under one of the plates, and have the kid read the plates CORRECTLY until they lift up the plate and find... you guessed it, the puppy! Easy way to review, and the students don't even know that they are playing an educational game! Check out the kids in action!

I got distracted at my 4th group and spaced off taking their picture! Yikes! If you don't see your child, I apologize!! I am usually pretty good about sneaking a picture of everyone!

Excuse me Sir, do you have the time?

On Friday, we investigated our math homework from the night before. Students tallied their answers on white boards to figure out how many clocks and watches were in their homes, just at their team alone. We then put all the numbers together for a GRAND TOTAL!

Drum roll please..............

We discovered that we have 73 watches in our homes all together!

And it gets better! We have 161 clocks in our houses!!

Wow! Thank you families for helping your children scavenge for the time! ;)

We found the end (of the RAINBOW)!

Quit Monkeying Around!! (Brown Day)

oPPosite Day!! (Black & White)

Today we did a lot with opposites, which will hopefully help the kids out next year as 2nd graders when they learn about antonyms! I know I did not get many pictures as the week went on of activities we did, but they did get sent home! We have been super busy in Room 108! By the way, all 18 of my students LOVE Splat the Cat books by Rob Scotton! =)

None of our normal pictures turned out too good today! Yikes! Of course, the goofy face ones are the easiest and the most fun for the kiddos!
